Withholding Tax on Interest for Non Residents
Normally, interest on deposits is subject to a 10% withholding tax for non residents. However New Zealand provides an option where the investor can instead choose to pay a 2% levy (i.e. 2% of the interest received) but will not receive a tax certificate of interest paid. This is described on the official New Zealand Treasury website.
